Our job summary

The Registered Nurse on the Med Surg 8E unit provides direct patient care, implements and monitors care plans, and coordinates with healthcare team members for effective patient management. This full-time night shift position requires current RN licensure and BLS certification, with responsibilities across a broad range of medical conditions and surgical patients. Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State.

Education:

Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

8 East is a 16 bed Med/Surg unit. Our nurses have developed a strong work culture of kindness, great teamwork, acceptance, and fostering education whenever we can! The population we serve is a wide variety of diagnoses and clinical pathways including: AKI, ETOH Withdrawal, AMS/Falls, Sepsis, DKA, & surgical patients (GI, GU, OB-GYN, Basic Ortho and Neuro, Podiatry) and that is only scratching the surface. This is a floor filled with many learning opportunities and a great way to start your nursing career!
