This position is for a board-certified or eligible psychiatrist to provide long-term psychiatric care at a federal detention center south of Phoenix, Arizona. Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, managing urgent and emergency psychiatric cases, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, with a focus on diverse populations including family units and transgender care. The role requires an unrestricted Arizona medical license, BLS certification, and flexibility to cover various shifts including weekends and shared call, with a commitment through September 2025 and potential extensions.
Medstaff is assisting with long term Psychiatry coverage for Federal detention center located south of Phoenix, AZ.
- Looking for a physician that is board certified, or a recent grad ready to sit for the boards, in Psychiatry
- Requires unrestricted Arizona license, BLS and at least one year of psychiatry experience
- Experience in a detention/correctional or residential setting is preferred but not required
- Coverage is needed for Sun-Sat, days, nights, weekends and will have shared call
- Flexibility would be great - let us know your preferences
- Bi-Lingual is a plus, but not a requirement
- Duties include but are not limited to evaluation, formulation of diagnoses and treatment of psychiatric and mental health care needs
- Includes, family units, urgent and emergency mental health care, public health management, case management, collaboration with an interdisciplinary team
- Also gender specific care, including transgender care and management of mental health care during pregnancy
- Start date is based on time for interview, site visit, acceptance, credentialing and security clearance. Will be a commitment through September 2025, with possibility for long term extensions.
