Description:
- Part Time position working 2x12 hour shifts
- Day/night shift rotations including weekends and holidays
- EOW and Holiday 2x12.0 schedule
- Rotational D/E/N/W/Holidays coverage
- No guaranteed RTO on the dates of the 3 major holidays, must stay through January
- NYS RN Licensure Required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- One (1) Year Experience serving in Med/Surg Environment as a Registered Nurse
- Apply nursing knowledge and skill in delivery of care by assessing patient/family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness, and analyzing data/information obtained through direct observation and assessment, technology, or health team communication
- Create developmentally and age appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the nature and scope of health problems identified
- Collaborate with patient, family, physician, and health care team members to set goals and monitor patient progress
- Adjust the plan based on patient response or change in condition/reprioritization of needs
- Develop specialized skill in the area of cardiac care including telemetry monitoring
- Promote, advocate for and protect the health, safety and rights of the patient
- Systematically evaluate quality and effectiveness of Nursing Practice
- Use results of Quality Improvement activities to initiate changes in individual nursing practice and to influence care delivery
- Comply with infection prevention strategies and maintain competencies required to care for the specific population in the area assigned
- Report potential safety risks and inappropriate/questionable practices
- Conduct rounds per protocol and use tools and equipment needed to keep the patient/family informed, engaged, and safe
- Engage in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas in which professional development would be beneficial
- Take accountability to increase knowledge and enhance skill
- Use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Demonstrate skill in application of nursing interventions including medication administration
- Motivate the patient/family by teaching them what is needed to continue care and healing at home
- Assess patient/family learning styles and structure sessions to maximize understanding
- Seek teachable moments during the care delivery process to emphasize pertinent information
- Ask questions to evaluate retention of key points in the self care process
- Provide tools and information to assist the patient family after discharge
- Document the education provided and the patient/family response to the education
- Provide accountability for patient family education to assist the patient and family in understanding self care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing
- Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to promote members of the team working together to accomplish the best possible patient outcome
- Teach others as appropriate and delegate tasks and interventions consistent with the individual's education, training, and scope of practice
- Promote leadership awareness and foster positive change
- Make meaningful connections with patient/family through nursing practice
- Develop helping, trusting, and caring relationships by being present in the moment of interaction
- Listen, communicate, engage, and anticipate the patient/family needs
- Strive to understand what is most important to the patient/family, acknowledging that the patient and family are the central focus of all care and services
- Promote comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment
