Leidos has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Systems Administrator to work independently with minimal supervision providing systems administration for the Infrastructure and Deactivation & Remediation contractors at the DOE Portsmouth (Piketon, Ohio) site. The position will be part of an IT team responsible for the design, deployment, maintenance, configuration management, monitoring and troubleshooting of the IT infrastructure.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform daily system administration, operation and maintenance support activities in support of a physical and virtual environment.
- Provide primary support and management of the IT server infrastructure and hosted systems, focusing on areas like Active Directory, permissions, storage, Group Policy, etc.
- Support first-tier technical staff with troubleshooting and the resolution of more complex issues related to software tools, applications, databases, and system access.
- Analyze and resolve hardware and software problems for end users, with primary emphasis on server-related issues.
- Support System Administration of primary Omnissa/VMWare platforms across the site, among other technologies
- Works with hardware/software vendors to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Recommend hardware and software solutions to meet end user and IT needs.
- Support Cyber Security compliance and audit preparation in coordination with the Cyber Security Team.
- Consults with internal departments to identify customer needs and include into both operational and project objectives.
- Remain conversant with the industry’s computer security technology and practices with technical skills and applicable experience with related technologies.
- Define and document best practices, technical guides and support procedures
- Interact with cross functional project teams including Software Development, Helpdesk, User Support, Cyber Security, Software Quality Assurance, End-Users and Oversight.
- Participate in the creation and ongoing maintenance of documentation to ensure clear, concise and accurate information is readily available to assist with incident resolution
- Remediate security vulnerabilities
- Communicates effectively via Microsoft Teams, email and phone.
Basic Qualifications
- Requires a BA/BS in Computer Science or Information Technology (IT) from an accredited university and preferably 2+ years of related experience. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance
- Must be detail-oriented
- Must have exceptional analytical, technical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- Consults with internal departments to identify customer needs and include into both operational and project objectives.
- Remain conversant with the industry’s computer security technology and practices with technical skills and applicable experience with related technologies.
- Ability to read and perform complex software and infrastructure deployment instructions.
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must have strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows and Server Operating Systems and/or Oracle, RHEL and Linux Operating Systems.
- Experience providing maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting of the computer systems and networks.
- Operational knowledge of Microsoft platforms and/or Linux; and network equipment and architectures.
- Must be able to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- DOE site experience
- Active DOE clearance
- Related industry-recognized certifications MCP, MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, Network+ and/or VMware VCP preferred.
- Experience in the administration of shared resources

Pay Range:
Pay Range $50,050.00 - $90,475.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
