American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications, with day/night rotation and first-to-float responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Work in a 4-bed ICU within an acute care setting
- Critical access hospital (CAH) environment
- Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:2-3 based on acuity
- Common patient cases include DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac issues, medical detox, art lines, and CVP
- RNs are required to titrate typical ICU drips and read/interpret their own cardiac strips
- Work with respiratory equipment ranging from nasal cannulas to ventilators
- No charge nurse on shift; ER manages oversight for ICU
- No nurse aides or patient care tech support
- Uses Meditech for documentation; experience preferred
- Day and night rotating 12-hour shifts with weekend and holiday coverage as needed
- Floating required to Medical-Surgical or Emergency Room areas for 1:1 care
- Primary responsibilities include direct care for a diverse ICU patient population, titration of drips, ventilator management, and cardiac monitoring
- Position requires adaptability, strong teamwork, and situational safety awareness
- RNs must wear navy scrubs
- Three 12-hour unit-specific orientation shifts provided
- First to float among unit staff
- Candidates may not have been employed (full, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year
- Submit all requests for time off (RTO) upfront, limited to 7 days per 13-week contract
- No clinical involvement during interview processing
- Active RN license, state or compact, must be valid at the time of consideration
- Minimum of 1 year ICU experience required
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS
- TNCC, TCAR, or significant trauma patient care experience required
- Must provide two professional references: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years with dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Copy of driver’s license required
- Facial hair must comply with fit testing standards for respiratory protection; inability to pass results in contract cancellation
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
